Photographer's Note
The Bibi Ka Maqbara (English:"Tomb of the Lady") is a tomb located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India. It was commissioned by the sixth Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1660 in the memory of his first wife and chief consort Dilras Banu Begum (posthumously known as Rabia-ud-Daurani). It bears a striking resemblance to the famous Taj Mahal, the mausoleum of Aurangzeb's mother, Mumtaz Mahal. It is notable that Aurangzeb never raised monumental edifices during his half-a-century reign, but made just one exception, that is, to build the mausoleum of his wife. He was not very interested in architecture, though he had built the small, but elegant, Pearl Mosque at Delhi. The Bibi Ka Maqbara was the largest structure that Emperor Aurangzeb had to his credit.rnrnThe comparison to the Taj Mahal has often obscured its very own considerable charm. Due to the strong resemblance, it is also called the Dakkhani Taj (Taj of the Deccan). The Bibi Ka Maqbara is the principal monument of Aurangabad and its historic city. An inscription found on the main entrance door mentions that this mausoleum was designed and erected by Ata-ullah, an architect and Hanspat Rai, an engineer respectively. Ata-ullah was the son of Ustad Ahmad Lahauri, the principal designer of the Taj Mahal.rn

Hello Manuel,
It's a pleasant change from the big Taj Mahal in Agra. It is slightly similar but makes quite a different impression. You placed yourself well, slightly to the side, to show the road and trees on a diagonal. The two women nearest us, and those on the opposite side, are well placed. Only the nearest man in the blue shirt is slightly out of place. On the other hand he is almost obscured by the shade. Light and colours are very good, making this a 98% superb photo. ;-)
Regards,
Gert

Hi Manuel
long time no see on TE, great to have you posting new photos once again :) Lets hope you stay.
Wonderful photo you're sharing with us, this is a new site for me as i didn't know about this other smaller Tomb - which is also dedicated to a wife. I don't think anyone is going to build a tomb when I pass away haha
lovely point of view with a few people in it, the long lines, the lighting, its a beautiful sight for sure. thanks for sharing this one
cheers

Bonjour Manuel,
C'est vrai qu'il est moins impressionnant que le plus gros mais il est tout aussi beau. Tu as atteint une belle symétrie tout en n'étant pas dans l'allée centrale. Magnifique netteté.
Amicalement

Hola, Manuel!
Nice to see you back :). And I see, you went to India. This "small Taj" is less famous but also beautiful. And excellent composition with many diagonal lines. Nice view of some Indian women going there.
Lovely yellow flowers, marvelous picture.
I was in Aurangabad many years ago, but I suppose I saw it only from a distance, I was going to Ellora and Ajanta. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures from your Indian trip.
Have a nice day

Hi Manuel
Nice to see something diff from the real one! I like the symmetry and you've done a super job controlling the exposure in the bright light, the details are spot on as well as lovely scale and perspective. The colours make a splendid contrast to the building stonework. Lovely shot and tfs, Congrats
Best wishes

Ciao Manuel
Fantastic linear perspective with the yellow flowers contrasting against a rare blue sky. Good sharpness and the people provide scale and animate the scene. Tfs!

manuel
unfortunately it was a religious holiday and this mausoleum was closed for visitors when I tried to know it. even being inspired in the famous taj and being small, I liked the conception of this humble copy.
