Photographer's Note

Taken in Aberdeen, south of Hong Kong island.

For many years, Aberdeen - Heung Gong Tsai (Little Fragrant Harbour) in Cantonese - was one of Hong Kong's top tourist attractions because of the large number of people (estimated to over 6,000) who lived and worked on junks moored in the harbour. Over the years the number of boats has dwindled as more as of these boatpeople have moved in high-rises or abandoned fishing as a profession.

You can have a 30-minute ride with a sampan and visit the harbour. You'll see the famous floating restaurants, such as "Jumbo Floating Restaurant" which is more an institution than a restaurant.
