Photographer's Note

The Stairway of Gold Coins at the Chinese Centre for Arts, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

I was returning to Tsim Sha Shui after a long day of sightseeing. As I go out of the Star Ferry Terminal at the Mainland, I saw the Chinese Arts Centre beautifully decorated in colors of red and Gold. This was the week following the Chinese New Year (the year of the Dog), and needless to say, the building sported its best designs.

This is the staircase to the entrance of the Arts Centre. Red is a lucky color for Chinese, and the gold coins are to bring fortunes. The depth of colors just made it irresistable for a photograph.
