Photographer's Note

The Drum Tower of Xi'an. Erected in 1380, this Drum Tower is the counterpart of its Bell Tower, which is just southeast of this tower. The Drum tower, struck at dusk, was used to tell time but later it was only used to warn of attack. This magnificent structure is built without nails.
