Preah Khan is one of many temples at Angkor Wat near Siem Reap. The original untouched colour print is attached as a workshop.

"North-east of the walled city of Angkor Thom, about 3,5 km from the Bayon, is the rambling 12th century complex of Preah Khan. It was Jayavarman VII's first capital before Angkor Thom was completed and means 'Fortunate City of Victory'. It is similar in ground-plan to Ta Prohm, but great attention was paid to the approaches: one of the avenues is lined with carved-stone boundary posts. Holes in the inner walls of the central sanctuary of Preah Khan suggest they may once have been decorated with brass plates - an obvious target for looters. The complex includes a hall built to house the king's dancers - an unusual Khmer architectural extra. A stele was discovered at the site glorifying the builder, Jayavarman VII and detailing what it took to keep the place ticking over. The inventory mentions that for Preah Khan's upkeep, it required the services of 97,870 men and women, 444 chefs, 4,606 footmen and 2,298 servants."

Hi Chris,
Oh oh, B&W conversion, a bit unusual from you, but it works well in creating an old postcard feeling. Considering the color version, definitely the good choice. Nice details of the temple, well done !
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi Chris!
The B&W version looks like it´s just coming out of a travel book from 1900.Excellent capture of this interesting place.Good sharpness that makes all interesting details visible!
Good work!

PP a good idea here Chris, if only to make this one stand out. The way you've done it looks like an illustration from a '30s book on exploration. Nice job.

Hello Chris,

I love this one, you managed the B&w a very finest way, it looks so old now.

It's a picture that we could see on a old book. i love this sweet effect, the saturation is perfect.
Cheers
Greg

Amazing,Chris.
i like the way you create it in sepia, great proportion here for this atmosphere,I prefer it than color version, very good note, too,
well captured and very nicely composed,...I added it to theme, hope you don't mind!

cheers!

Hi Chris! I particulary like the mood resulting of your PP on this one. There is a strong feeling of desolation, that's very well rendered. Excellent composed with the stone line from the foreground right to the scene. Amazing the amount of work required to build the complex though. A very fine work, thanks for sharing it!

Nice idea Chris with PP and B/W, I can all details excellent see, the sharpness is splendid, but I like more of you colour pictures. This is personal Chris!
Greetings,
John.

Great shot Chris.

I like this version better then the Workshop. The sepia gives it a feel of old and not of this century.

Nice one.

I don't know if I likie the sepia or not. I think it would be better in B&W, but it's muy opinion..
The scene is very nice though.. I have to go there..

this is really good Chris.. looks like a lithograph. i like the original picture too, but am glad you chose to post this one. the post production is really well done..

just a query, is there a slight tilt in the picture, or is it the ruins that makes it look like that?

Hi Chris,
I like the sepia PP, and I like the original too. It's amazing how trees can live like that, one would think they'd die before they reached whatever they are reaching for. I wonder if that root grew up-down or down-up. The sepia emphasizes the feel of old and worn, this picture breathes history.

Simon.

Hi Chris
Interesting compo and pp work in the fine detailed presentation of this very special place. And looking to the original I find the BW version a good choice. Maybe a little tight cropping on the top - don't know.

Salut chrisj Très belle image en noir et blanc bien mise en valeur et superbe note avec beaucoup de détails sur cet endroit du bon boulot amitié harold

Hi Chris. Very interesting sight with the tree seeming to claim back space in between the man-made structures. Great richness of shapes and textures all over the scene. Good idea with the b&w conversion, resulting in a vintage postcard look.

Very nice ruins photo Chris, wonderful sepia conversion, very rich in details, I also like the trees surrounding this ruins, very well done and pleasant, thanks for sharing.

Hi Chris, It is a well composed picture. You story made this place more interesting. It looks that there has been a struggle between the tree and the building. To me, I'd like the original color picture better. The B&W made the place show its age though.

Hi Chris
very good work, nice composition.
interesting details
well done

I must say that I prefer the color version. Not that this one doesn’t work, it does, besides the fact it has an interesting old photo look. But when I looked at it the first thing I thought was how it looked in color! What were the colors of this place? Gladly you’ve posted the original in the WS and it’s very nice.

Good POV although I feel that the main subject could be placed a bit more to the right.

Good move to go for sepia. An otherwise ordinary pic turned into a photo well worth seeing.

Absolutely stunning! I like everything about this shot; the tone; the light; the subject; the composition; and it all looking so ancient. A wonderful addition to the site. Thanks for posting it.

Andre

if i can remember it right...is this the sight where the tomb raider movie where taken?...well by your shot...it looks like it just came out of a painting...very very good ...i like the tone that you used...gives it a touch of being old and antique...i love it! TFS

Curious this turn to sepia but brings out well all details in a graphical way, good choice of presentation Chris.
greetings
Henk
