An unusual 'find' in the 'Preah Khan' group of temples of Angkor Wat (late 12th century). This almost looks like an ancient Greek, or Roman temple, with the circular columns. From the 'Canby Publications' website:

"Preah Khan is a huge, highly explorable monastic complex. Full of carvings, passages and photo opportunities. It originally served as a Buddhist monastery and school, engaging over 1000 monks. For a short period it was also the residence of King Jayavarman VII during the reconstruction of his permanent home in Angkor Thom. 'Preah Khan' means 'sacred sword'. In harmony with Ta Prohm, which was dedicated to Jayavarman VII's mother, Preah Khan is dedicated to his father. Features of note: Like most of Jayavarman VII's monuments, the Buddha images were vandalized in the later Hindu resurgence. Some Buddha carvings in the central corridor have been crudely carved over with Bodhisattvas, and in a couple of odd cases, a lotus flower and a linga. Also note the cylindrical columns on the building west of the main temple. It is one of the only examples of round columns and may be from a later period."

Hi Chris! The structure looks huge and so old with all those dirt, rust and damaged portions! Great angle in taking this shot, the blue sky as background gives more color to your pic. Very sharp composition as well. Great work! rgds.

Yes, it does, very well shot archi photo. I never made it to that group. I'll have to get back there again some day.

Very nice place that you describe here ! I like the light and colors, and the very good DOF. The perspective is nice too ! Good contribution, Chris !

Hi Chris, I like too your shooting angle here very much it seems the temple is gonna pop out of my monitor !
Other than that, great light that enhances nice colors to present the architecture at its best, as well as a great blue sky, is it an early morning shot ?

Well done and obviosly seen.

Nice place you have captured here.
I like the old look of the ruins that you have captured. Looks like something that could be used in an Indy Jones movie.

Great view of this temple - contrast and sharpness are really good. I like the angle which lets us see the top of the temple against the lovely blue sky.

Hi Chris...nice picture. Looks European but yes, this is indeed in Angkopr Wat. I had my trip there almost 10 years ago....when photography did not exist in my vocabulary yet (but posing was).

Good picture. The centered com po make the structure look stable and proud.

A very well framed shot of this interesting building Chris! Your PoV is really effective creating a nice perspective! Very well done!

Good perspective for this one, Chris - your shooting angle results in a rising diagonal that culminates in the structure's ornate topping at the right. Colors and contrast are a delight to see in this photo, very nice.

Trés joli contraste sur cette image avec des détails parfaitements mis en valeur.
Merci egalement de la note qui est trés instructive.
Bravo Jules
