Photographer’s Note
On my walk near the Buddhas of Bamiyan I met a lot of local people. This young girl was walking from the town to a village accompanied by her mother. Unsure at first, they hurried past. But an older woman, maybe her grandmother, called the girl back to meet us.
Even though the family is certainly poor, this little princess still manages to dress beautifully.

What a beautifully captured portrait! The expression is very deep, maybe wistful. The colour really grabs my attetion too, very vibrant. Great work!

Hi Jonathan,
Excellent portrait. I like the fact that you are not standing directly facing her. Colors are bright and everything is very sharp. This girl seems young and yet in her eyes she has the maturity of an adult.

This is a very impressive portrait, Jonathan, well framed and exposed and perfect DOF. The condition of her skin suggests she may be suffering from malnutrition to some extent, which would not be surprising given conditions around Bamiyan. Cheers . . . David
