My previous photo was the ferry boats quay in Mindelo, são Vicente Island, Cape Verde, in 1996. Today you see the ferries quay in 2006 in another location nearby. Here you can get the ferry to Santo Antão (daily), São Nicolau and Santiago islands.
This is just a small part of the Porto Grande ("grand port" or "big harbor"), the best in Cape Verde. Most of the city lies to the left of this view.
This was shot from the Fortim d'El-Rei, a former fort and prison, on a hill between downtown and Lajinha; you can see it in the photo of the Technical School.
The bigger ship to the right is the ferry M/F "Mar d'Canal" that does the route to Santo Antão. So, let's listen to a beautiful morna by Cesária Évora with the same name: ♫ ♪ Mar d'Canal ("Sea of Channel"; it refers to the sea channel between São Vicente and Santo Antão).

» Cais dos ferries no Mindelo «
A minha foto anterior o cais dos ferries no Mindelo, ilha de são Vicente Island, Cabe Verde, em 1996. Hoje vemos o novo cais em 2006 numa localização perto. Aqui apanham-se barcos para as ilhas de Santo Antão (diariamente), São Nicolau e Santiago.
Esta é apenas uma pequena parte do Porto Grande do Mindelo, o melhor em Cabo Verde. A maior parte da cidade fica para a esquerda desta vista.
Isto foi fotografado do Fortim d'El-Rei, antigo forte e prisão, num morro entre o centro da cidade e a zona de Lajinha; podes vê-lo na foto da Escola Técnica.
O navio maior à direita é o M/F "Mar d'Canal" que faz a rota de Santo Antão. Então, ouçamos a bela morna com o mesmo nome cantada por Cesária Évora: ♫ ♪ Mar d'Canal (refere-se ao mar do canal entre São Vicente e Santo Antão).
