Photographer's Note

My last photo showed a nice beach in Cape Verde that in 2006 was still mainly used by the locals. This beach on the island of Sal was, and still is, used mainly by foreign tourists. In fact it is the great magnet for package tourists from all over Europe during the winters.

Personally I found it either too crowded, close to the town called Santa Maria, or just too wide and windy and unsheltered further away from town. It stretches for several kilometers south and west of Santa Maria, which I also found to be a rather dull town totally dependent on tourists. I made sure to leave Sal on the first flight available.

Here is a larger version.

In the workshop you can see the same beach facing Santa Maria. These photos were taken with my first digital camera, a Canon Ixus 750. I had bought it just a few days earlier. The approximate map coordinates are 16.59442 -22.92788. You can click at Map: view in the box to the right.
