Great GyurMaster 2016-09-19 7:22

Dear Gert,

No wonder you were 'amazed' by it if it is not so common is Sweden. As someone, who concerns EU law as well, I know your Systembolaget from the Rosengren case of the ECJ. For some 5 years we have a similar system for tobacco, but not for alchololic beverage. (Thanks God! :)) Nonetheless I agree with you that this kind of advertising is a bit balcanic, fortunatelly most shops are more discreet recently.

To say something about the picture as well, I think that it really worthed to wait for the lady, it enchances the otherwise flat scene.

Best Wishes,

Thank you György,
Contrary to what you and others may believe, Systembolaget is actually quite popular among Swedes. The shops are very well stocked and the staff are generally very well informed and service-minded. It's very different from 30 years ago. Today you can no doubt find a greater variety of fine wines in a small Swedish town than in most wine-shops in Paris, not to mention beers from all over the world.
Systembolaget is among the few institutions remaining from the old "socialist" days in Sweden that has adapted well to the new times in the EU.

Thank you for the answer! As you noted it is from the old 'socialist days' maybe that's why we would have ambivalent feelings towards such an institution.
