Default (ronners) Workshop: Once Loved

This is one of those ones that benefits from a different perspective. The original color version works better because of the flat sky color.

In PS, I...

1. add a hue/saturation adjustment layer
2. reduce saturation -20
3. increase hue +12 (removes red and makes it a bit more solemn)
4. crop out most of the sky, as the original had a 50/50 composition, and a solid blue sky doesn't really add anything

Did you use a tripod? It's hard to get any more sharpness out of this one.

I used a pod of sorts in that I set the camera on top of a fence post. I mentioned in one of the discussions about this shot that I believe the blur is a result of the heat waves coming off the field in the forground that I cropped out. It was quite hot that day and smokey because of fires to the west.

I have to agree that the cropping helps. However, I don't care for the hue adjustment. It's really not representative of the real colors. I think the colors of the orignal are about as close as I could come. I did increase the saturation a bit to get some blue into the sky.

Thanks for the tips and the time you've taken trying to teach this old dog :)
