To holmertz: Flight time

Tack Gert,
I just checked my diary, and the flight time was actually 21 minutes. On the other direction I was on a bigger Fokker 50, and that flight took 14 minutes.

To macjake: Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao

Thanks Craig and John,
Aruba is very much about the sun, sea and sand. And indeed quite touristy. Bonaire is significantly less populated with more focus on nature and tranquility. Curacao has...

To macjake: Cargo colours

Thanks Craig,
I meant that specific paint scheme of SBB with red and blue and white cargo text. It's not a generic term so no wonder you hadn't heard it before.

Or maybe he will be making software for train controllers like I do... But it's so good to get in touch with the real stuff.

To Royaldevon: Mystery solved

Thanks Bev,
So, the reason must be that passengers wanting to step off on stations that have shorter platforms are warned. So that they wouldn't use first or last doors of the train because on...

To holmertz: Barcelona

Hi,
I think you would like Barcelona. It is a big city. And as such they are many neighbourhoods where you could easily hide away from tourists. Knowing your style, I would very much like to see...

I thought so too. But Wikipedia says the car in accident was special racing model Porsche 550 Spyder.

To macjake: Swiss transport

Thanks Craig,
Train is the most usual method of transport for me there. Then comes buses and other kinds of public transport from ships to trams. And almost everything is covered in a <A...

I think this red paint has been used both in Finland and Sweden from the ancient times.

To macjake: Green?

Thanks Craig,
It's actually golden colour but reflections give different impressions. I guess it's due to GoldenPass marketing brand and maybe it should also bring chocolate wrapper to mind.

To emka: Gauges

Thanks Malgo,
Narrow gauge railway lines were (and still are) much easier to built on mountaineous terrain. 1000 mm line climbs to about 1 km height before going through a tunnel to another valley....

To emka: Landings

Thanks Malgo,
As far as I know they have moved the touchdown point a bit further after lengthening the runway. So, planes still land over people on the beach, but they should be higher than before...

To holmertz: Sill

Tack Gert,
Yes we eat sill, or at least some Finns do. But I don't think it's so popular that this kind of booth would make good business. And sill is more common in Midsummer with new potatoes here...

To Mesut09: Herring

Thanks Mesut,
One jar is 70 kr which is about 7 euros. One of the sauces is mustard, but I don't know those others. I think that green ball is just a decoration, but traditionally such glass balls...

To alvaraalto: Skater

Thanks Rob,
There is an ice field under that thin layer of snow. We have lots of them here. Most of them are just simple ones made by spraying water through a hose when it's cold enough.

To alvaraalto: Scandinavian colonies

Thanks Rob,
Yes U.S. Virgin Islands used to belong to Denmark. And St. Bartholomew belonged to Sweden. Come to think of that, Finland and St. Barths were once parts of the same empire.

To alvaraalto: Abraham,

Thanks Rob,
Never heard of Abraham dolls. Of traditional presents I received I could mention at least an armchair and expensive cognac.
M/S Merete was elsewhere in the 1970's. Maybe it was <A...
